David Dent was born in 1959 and spent his childhood in South Wales. He
graduated from Bristol Polytechnic with honours and began a teaching
career. However, he soon decided to devote all his time to painting.
He is now recognised as one of the finest painters of horses in the country and is regularly commissioned by racehorse trainers, owners and jockeys. He has exhibited his work at many galleries including the Richmond Gallery,
the Osborne Gallery and the Wingfield Sporting Gallery.
He and his brother run the Whitehorse Studio in Chepstow. David enjoys working in a variety of media but particularly likes the spontaneity that water colour allows. "Riding Out" was painted at 6.45am on the downs.
